About the Index

This directory is an extension of my mission statement from when I wrote the proposal for Never Whistle at Night: get more Natives noticed and hired. I've built this site basically from scratch in my free time and am operating it all out of my own pocket. There will be no ads, no paywalls, nothing like that. This is how I'm giving back to the community.

You'll discover all sorts of Indigenous talent in this index, from well-established names to those seeking more opportunities and a chance to break into a horror writing room. Every listing should have a headshot, the person's bio, and links to just about anything relevant across the industries. Native and Indigenous folks need to have authentic and enriching representation in film/tv, books, podcasts, video games, etc. There's so much potential out there, and I see this site as a good first step.

The first listings—about 60—were logged by yours truly, digging through websites, copying all sorts of texts, downloading images, what have you. These are the folks who answered my call way back in July 2025, sent me their info, and gave me consent to put them in the index. I know it's been a long while since I announced it, but I hope it's worth it.

Moving forward, any Native/Indigenous person who is in a creative field in the realm of horror is welcomed to submit a listing into this directory. They can do so on the top right of the homepage. Please share this with your kin, all your friends and relatives who would be interested in joining the directory and showcasing their skills, reels, and impressive resumes. Allies and industry folks: Bookmark this and spread the word, please. This is a resource free from me to you all. Please make good use of it.

Hohóú,

Shane Hawk
