Kyle Kauwika Harris is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and director known for his compelling storytelling and distinct cinematic vision. Of Hawaiian heritage and an enrolled citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Harris has built an impressive career in film, spanning feature narratives, documentaries, and screenwriting. Represented by Independent Artist Group in Los Angeles, he has garnered the attention of Hollywood’s top players through his passion, skill, and dedication to storytelling.
Harris first gained widespread recognition for his Emmy Award-winning feature documentary, I Stand: The Guardians of the Water, which chronicled the Standing Rock Sioux Nation’s opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline. His transition into narrative filmmaking came with Out of Exile, a gripping crime thriller starring Ryan Merriman and Peter Greene. Since then, he has written and directed Reverence and The Huntsman, a haunting thriller starring Shawn Ashmore, Garret Dillahunt and Elizabeth Mitchell, while also producing the feature films Anywhere, Rated, Pale Night, and Williston.
Beyond his directorial work, Harris has contributed as a screenwriter to major projects, including rewrites on Bright Path, the Jim Thorpe biopic, Wind River: The Next Chapter and Weight of Air with Thunder Road. With over 30 screenplays to his name, he continues to shape the landscape of crime, action, and thriller genres. In 2025, he founded Territory Standard Productions, a production company based in Oklahoma City, dedicated to producing high-quality, character-driven action/crime and thriller stories. Splitting his time between Oklahoma City and Los Angeles, Harris continues to make his mark as a visionary storyteller in the film industry.
